Pablo Mulás del Pozo
Obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Sciences from the University of Ottawa, Canada in 1960 and a PhD in Engineering from Princeton University in 1965. He has held teaching appointments at the Graduate Schools of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico in Nuclear Engineering and Physical Chemistry and at the Faculty of Engineering of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He has also held the following appointments: Director of the Nuclear Reactor Laboratories of the Nuclear Research Center of Mexico (1970-1973), Director of the Energy Resources Division (1976-1991) and President (1991-1996) of Mexico's Electric Power Research Institute. After a short period as Chief Advisor to the Secretary of Energy, he was (March 1997) appointed Director of the Energy Program at the National University of Mexico; from February 2001 to March 2002, he was appointed Director of University Programs at the same institution. In April 2002, he joined the Metropolitan University in Mexico City as advisor to the President. In 2006, he returned to the Electric Power Institute as a researcher. From January 2002 until April 2004, he was appointed Coordinator of the Engineering Chapter of the Mexican Academy of Sciences. From January 1999 to December 2001, the World Energy Council appointed him Regional Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean and from January 2002 to September 2004, he was the Chairman of its Energy Market Reforms Study group. In December 2003, he was appointed Secretary of the Board of Directors as well as Executive Director of the Mexican Association for Energy and Sustainable Development (AMEDES), which is the Mexican Committee of the World Energy Council. Besides participating in over fifteen professional scientific and engineering national and international associations as well as in various advisory and standing committees in academic, industrial and publishing institutions, Dr. Mulás received an honoris causa doctor’s degree in science from the University of Salford, United Kingdom, in 1993.
