David Paterson

Vice President, Corporate and Environmental Affairs, General Motors of Canada Limited

David Paterson is Vice President of Corporate and Environmental Affairs, and a member of the Board of Directors for General Motors of Canada Limited.  He is responsible for GMCL’s government, media and community relations, employee communications and environmental performance.

Prior to joining General Motors in 2003, David was Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs at AMEC plc, one of Europe’s largest engineering services companies.  From 1990 to 1995, he was Senior Vice President at Hill and Knowlton Canada and between 1986 and 1990, he served in the Ontario Government acting as Executive Assistant to the Government House Leader as Special Assistant to the Minister of Government Services, the Minister of Education, and to the Attorney General for Ontario.  David serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.  He has served on the executive of the Public Affairs Council of the Conference Board of Canada and has participated in several industry and community organizations.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen’s University and a Master of Arts degree in Canadian History from McGill University.
