Tom Parkinson

 

President & Chief Executive Officer, Hydro One Inc.

 

Tom Parkinson is President and CEO of Hydro One, the electricity transmission and distribution business for Ontario, Canada.  Hydro One is a $12 Billion business which owns and operates Ontario's 28,400 kilometre high-voltage transmission grid that delivers electricity to large industrial customers and municipal utilities, and a 122,000 kilometre low-voltage distribution system that serves 1.2 million end-use customers in the province. With over 4500 employees, Hydro One is among the largest power companies in North America.


Tom is Chairman of the Canadian Electricity Association, and has served on the Board of Ontario’s Independent Market Operator. In September 2004 Tom was named the Ontario Energy Association Leader of the Year, a prestigious award recognizing his vision, strategic thinking and passionate leadership of Hydro One.

 

Tom joined Hydro One in 2001 as President and CEO of Hydro One Network Services. Tom became President, Chief Operating Officer and co-CEO in July 2002, and then President and CEO of Hydro One Inc. in January 2003.


Prior to joining Hydro One Tom was President and CEO of NorthPower in Australia from 1995 through 2001. Tom was President and CEO of Oxley Electricity & Water from 1994 to 1995, and a senior executive with Illawarra Electricity from 1981 to 1994.  Tom was with BHP Steel from 1977 to 1981.
