Oskar Sigvaldason

Director representing Acres International
Dr. Oskar T. Sigvaldason is Chairman of the Energy Council of Canada and a Director, representing Acres International. He is also a Director of the Canadian Electricity Association and of the World Energy Congress – Montreal 2010 Corp. He also represents the North America Region on a World Energy Council (WEC) Steering Committee for a special Global Energy Scenarios Study to 2050, which will be presented at the next World Energy Congress in Rome in 2007.
Dr. Sigvaldason worked with Acres International for 39 years and was President and CEO of the Acres Group from 1994 to 2003. He retired from Acres in 2004, but is privileged to continue representing them with the Energy Council of Canada.
He is continuing his career as a Corporate Director with both publicly listed corporations and with industry associations. He is a Director of two public corporations as well as a Director of the Toronto Board of Trade.
He is a Civil Engineer, having graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1959 and subsequently, completing a Ph.D. from the University of London, England in1965. He also spent one year at Harvard University pursuing a progam of special studies in management science, economics and water resources.
