Energy Panel Breakfast

September 13, 2016   |   Toronto

Dr. Christoph Frei, Secretary-General, World Energy Council
and Panel of Energy Leaders

You are invited to hear the latest updates on global energy issues and emerging climate policies from the Secretary-General of the World Energy Council and commentary from three of Canada’s energy leaders during an Energy Panel Breakfast on September 13 at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.
We are very pleased that the event will be opened by the Honourable Glen Thiebault, Minister of Energy, Province of Ontario.  Dr. Christoph Frei will set the stage for the panel session with insightful comments on global climate policy, informed by the World Energy Council’s latest research and the outcomes of its ongoing energy dialogue.  Discussion on the global trends and the Ontario Climate Change Action Plan will follow moderated by Colin Andersen, Chair, Energy Council of Canada, and panelists Timothy M. Egan, President, Canadian Gas Association, and David McFadden, Counsel, Gowling WLG and Chair, Ontario Energy Association.

In addition, we are privileged that Dr. Frei will be doing an exclusive preview of an interesting World Energy Council report.  The Road to Resilience: Financing resilient energy infrastructure brings together the findings of the three previously published reports which focused on extreme weather events, energy-water-food nexus and cyber risks.  The new report integrates the recommendations into seven action items for government, business leaders and the finance sector which aim to improve the financing of resilient energy infrastructure.

This event is being held in conjunction with the Toronto Global Forum of the International Economic Forum of the Americas (IEFA) on September 12 to 14, 2016.  We have negotiated access by breakfast attendees to the September 13 morning sessions of the Toronto Global Forum and the luncheon address by Dr. Frei.  The three simultaneous IEFA sessions that morning will be of great interest to the energy community, focused on: distributed energy resources, infrastructure financing, and the future of nuclear energy.

Registration is available for the Energy Panel Breakfast alone, or for the combination of the Breakfast and the IEFA morning sessions and luncheon that day.  Registration information is available at and by contacting Brigitte Svarich, Director of Operations and Board Secretary, at 613-232-8239 and
